The Witness Gateway gives witnesses the option to access information about their case online.
The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service is currently offering this option to witnesses as part of a pilot programme.
Witnesses who are offered access will get a letter in the post explaining how to register for the Witness Gateway.
To access Witness Gateway, witnesses will go through a secure verification process that includes an ID check. This is done through the Scottish Government’s existing service, ScotAccount.
Depending on the details of the case, witnesses may use the Witness Gateway to:
- View their witness statement
- Provide their availability for attending court
- And view their court date
Using the Witness Gateway is optional. Witnesses will still contact us by post or phone. They can also request to view their statement in person.
The Witness Gateway will be introduced in phases to include most types of cases and witnesses, including professional witnesses.
