Murderers sentenced for death of Perth man

At the High Court in Edinburgh today Taylor Gordon (19) was sentenced to 17 years imprisonment and Drew Paterson (25) to 18 years imprisonment for the murder of William Reid (27) in Perth on 7 December last year after being found guilty of the crime last month.

The pair had viciously assaulted Mr Reid beating, kicking and striking him and tried to conceal their crime by dumping him in freezing temperatures while still alive in a secluded area of Perth.

Liam Murphy, Procurator Fiscal for the North of Scotland, said:

“This was a vicious assault by Gordon and Paterson which was compounded by their attempts to cover up their crime. Their victim was treated with total contempt first beaten, bundled into the back seat of a car and then dumped in a secluded location in freezing conditions while still alive.

“I hope that the murder convictions will reassure the people of Perth of the prosecution service’s commitment to tackling serious crime in their community.”
