COPFS' Process for Disaster Victim Identification

Following any sudden death in Scotland, an inquiry is launched to establish the cause of death and to formally identify the deceased.

The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service has set out a Disaster Victim Identification process to formally identify the deceased in incidents involving mass or multiple fatalities.
