Domestic Abuse Charges Reported in 2014-15

COPFS figures published today (4 November 2015) show that domestic abuse continues to be a significant issue in Scotland and prosecutors dealt with over 36,000 charges reported by Police Scotland in the year 2014-15.

The prosecution of cases involving domestic abuse is a strategic priority for COPFS and prosecutors are committed to holding perpetrators to account. These figures demonstrate that more charges involving domestic abuse are being prosecuted than ever before.

A Joint Protocol between COPFS and Police Scotland has been agreed in order to identify best practice and obtain consistency of approach in the investigation, reporting and prosecution of these cases.
